Profolan is built around a proprietary "Grow3 Formula" combining L-cysteine, taurine, and horsetail extract, supported by nettle extract, biotin, and zinc. The formulation targets androgenic alopecia through mild DHT modulation (nettle) and follicular nutrient support (biotin, zinc, cysteine). Unlike finasteride or minoxidil, this product will not halt or reverse advanced male pattern baldness — its evidence base is modest and its effects are incremental. Best suited for men with early-stage thinning or diffuse shedding (telogen effluvium) from nutritional or stress factors. Zinc at 10 mg and biotin at 0.6 mg are within physiological ranges. The Grow3 proprietary blend does not disclose individual doses, which is a transparency gap. Not a substitute for pharmaceutical hair-loss treatment in men with rapidly progressing loss.

Serving size is 2 capsules daily. The proprietary Grow3 blend makes precise dosage analysis impossible — this is a significant transparency issue. Biotin and zinc are disclosed and are at reasonable physiological doses.

What we can assess: The overall approach (nutritional cofactors + mild DHT modulation via nettle) matches current non-pharmaceutical hair-loss theory. However, for men with clinically evident androgenic alopecia, the effective treatments remain topical minoxidil (5%) and oral finasteride (1 mg/day) — both of which have strong RCT evidence. Profolan is adjunctive at best.

EU-manufactured, GMP-claimed. Proprietary blend disclosure is the main quality concern — buyers cannot verify that the L-cysteine, taurine, and horsetail doses are at effective levels. This is a hallmark of lower-tier supplement manufacturing and should lower consumer confidence.

A standalone multivitamin with adequate biotin and zinc costs $0.30/day. Profolan's pricing is hard to justify given the proprietary blend and the availability of cheaper, better-evidenced alternatives.

Generally well-tolerated. Rare: mild GI upset, acne (from biotin interfering with vitamin B5 metabolism), nausea from cysteine. Long-term high-dose zinc (>40 mg/day) can cause copper deficiency — this product at 10 mg/day is well within the safe range. Biotin supplementation above 1 mg/day can interfere with laboratory assays for thyroid function and troponin; inform your doctor if you have blood work scheduled.
